'Experiences with a prosthesis - a user's perspective'

We are looking to hear from individuals that use a prosthesis.

The aim of the study is to explore experiences with a prosthesis in order to gain a perspective on life with an artificial limb from a user's point of view.

Much work has been conducted on the many psychosocial aspects of prosthesis use, but we now wish to ask individuals for their input to tell us what they believe are the most important aspects of using an artificial limb. This may include the benefits of using the limb, any problems or obstacles encountered while using the limb, or other aspects that those not using a prosthesis may not be aware of.

We believe that understanding these experiences could enhance the rehabilitation process for others that are adjusting to their own prosthesis and potentially aid in the design of new prostheses.

In taking part in the study, you will be asked to participate in an informal discussion with the researcher, lasting less than an hour, where you will be asked a series of questions about your experiences. This can be conducted face-to-face, or over the phone, or via email.

If you would like to take part in the study, please get in touch with the researcher, Phil Jefferies.
